The Commission on Thursday 22nd May, 2025 hosted the board of directors from The People Transformation and Development Aid (PETRAD AID) (http://www.petradaid.org/) and discussed collaboration opportunities and areas of mutual interest.
PETRAD Aid is one of the accredited organisations that collaborated with the Commission in providing voter education and election observation during the 2022 General Election. Petrad Aid team, which was led by CEO Evanson Epetet, is seeking to strengthen its support and collaboration with the Commission in the build up to the 2027 General Election.
Commission Secretary/CEO, Marjan Hussein Marjan, welcomed the team and appreciated the support and effort they have made to enlighten voters on election processes, which has gone a long way to strengthen democracy in the country.
“The Commission will soon place an advertisement calling on all eligible Voter Education Providers and Election Observers to apply for accreditation. This will help it coordinate voter education and link providers with potential development partners for funding to carry out the exercise,” said Marjan.
Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) a Director Voter Education and Partnership Joyce Ekuam took the PETRAD Aid Board through the election processes including voter registration, boundaries delimitation and public outreach strategies.
“We need to reach out to the public and preach peace and harmony. Be ambassadors of peace throughout the election cycle building strong, unified communities where everyone feels valued, respected and included, regardless of their background or differences. Let us promote a future where cooperation and collaboration lead to a more just and equitable world,” said Ekuam.
Through such meetings, the Commission receives feedback from stakeholders that informs areas of improvement as it undertakes its mandate.
