Commission targets 6.3 million new voters on resumption of Continuous Voter Registration exercise

The Commission Chairperson, Erastus Edung Ethekon, has assured the public that IEBC is fully prepared and working diligently for the forthcoming by-elections as a precursor to the 2027 General Election. He emphasized that preparations for the by-elections are on course. On resumption of Continuous Voter Registration, the Chairperson stated that the Commission aims to enlist 6.3 million new eligible voters, 70 percent of whom are youth.

This assurance came during his appearance before the Parliamentary Accounts Committee, led by Butere Member of the National Assembly Hon. Tindi Mwale, where the Commission had been invited to respond to the Auditor General’s report on Account of the National Government for the Financial year ended 30th June 2023. The Chairperson also pledged to maintain close collaboration with the leadership of both houses of Parliament and the various committees, as well as other stakeholders.

“We have an open-door policy and remain committed to working closely with the leadership of both houses of Parliament and all progressive Kenyans to enhance our electoral processes and voter experience,” said Ethekon.
