The Commission Secretary and CEO, Marjan H. Marjan, MBS led the IEBC team in the presentation of its Memorandum before the committee. Marjan appreciated the progressive nature of the bill in enhancing the efficacy of the Commission and its processes. |
The Bill intends to review provisions of Sections 2 (Interpretation); 7A (Vacancy in the office of Chairperson and members); 10 (Secretary to the Commission); 36 (Procedure for delimitation of electoral boundaries); First Schedule (Procedure for appointment of Chairperson and Members of the Commission), Second Schedule (Provisions of conduct of the business and affairs of the Commission) and Fifth Schedule (Provisions relating to boundary delimitation) of the IEBC Act considering emerging reforms. |
The IEBC made submissions which highlighted the relevant legal framework, justification, and proposals for review. In addition, IEBC submitted comments on the implications of the proposed amendments. |
