Faith Mony Odhiambo voted President as Commission conducts election for Law Society of Kenya

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) called upon the Commission to conduct its elections on February 29 across the country. Albert Gogo, the Nairobi County Elections Manager, was appointed the Returning Officer for the election, which were conducted in all the counties.

LSK had declared vacant the position of President, Vice-President, Members of Council, Male Representative to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) and Members of the Advocates Disciplinary Tribunal (ADT).

Faith Mony Odhiambo was voted in as the new Law Society of Kenya president succeeding Eric Theuri, who served as President for a two-year term from March 2022. Odhiambo edged out four other candidates after she registered 3,113 votes ahead of her closest rival Peter Wanyama who secured 2,165 votes.

Carolyne Kamende finished third in the tight race with 888 votes. Fourth placed Bernard Ng'etich managed 833 votes, while Njoki Mboce got 511 votes.

Odhiambo led in all the 6 polling stations at the Milimani Law Courts, and regions like in Nyeri, Homa bay, Nanyuki, Kisii, Machakos, Kisumu and Nakuru. A total of 7,521 out of the 15,715 registered members cast their vote with only 11 votes being declared invalid.
