IEBC Conducts Unoa Primary School Student Council Elections

The Commission supports and conducts student council elections as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to foster a culture of democracy and good governance in schools. It is against this backdrop that IEBC staff from Makueni County presided over Unoa Primary School Student Council Elections on Thursday 6th February, 2020.

Unoa Primary School is a Public Primary School, located in Makueni Town, Makueni Constituency, Makueni County. The school has a student population of 1,011.

IEBC Makueni County Staff led by the CEM Eisha Mohamed conducted voter education, monitored campaigns and trained election officials who were picked from the student fraternity. The team further provided logistical and technical support to the school and partnered with teachers and the school administration.
 
The election had two elective positions namely: School Captain and Speaker. The voter education conducted on the student was so effective that only 3 rejected votes were reported. The election took place in an orderly manner, losers conceded defeat and the school administration, teachers and students termed the exercise as free, fair and transparent.
