Mahoo and Kiagu County Assembly Wards By-elections

The Commission yet again delivered on its mandate by successfully conducting the Mahoo and Kiagu County Assembly Wards (CAW) by-elections on 16 December 2021. Both seats fell vacant following the death of incumbents.

In Mahoo CAW, Saleri Donald Fundi of Jubilee Party emerged the winner after garnering 1,609 votes to edge out Kimuyu Daniel Mutuku of United Democratic Alliance (UDA), who had 1,358 votes. The Commission had cleared three candidates to vie for the seat. A total of 3,084 votes were cast representing 53.78% of voter turnout.

In Kiagu CAW, Simon Ngaruni of UDA garnered 2,440 votes against Milton Mwenda of Chama Cha Kazi Party, who garnered 1,823 votes. The Commission had cleared 10 candidates to vie for the seat. A total of 7,109 votes were cast representing 64.36% voter turnout.

The Commission’s Vice Chairperson, Juliana Cherera, oversaw the conduct of Mahoo CAW by-election, while Commissioner Francis Wanderi, oversaw the Kiagu CAW by-election. The Commission thanked voters and stakeholders for their participation and support during the by-elections.
