 21st Nov 2023

The Commission’s stands at the Mombasa International Show and Nairobi International Trade Fair attracted hordes of people keen to seek answers and learn on Kenya’s electoral and boundaries delimitation processes on 6th to 10th September 2023 and 23rd to 29th September, respectively.

The shows, under the theme to promote climate smart agriculture and trade initiatives for sustainable economic growth, also offered the Commission a platform to conduct voter education and engage the public, with school going students taking the opportunity to learn more on their rights to vote and participate in electoral activities to strengthen democracy in the country.

The Commission Secretary/CEO, Marjan Hussein Marjan, also took time from his busy schedule to interact with the multitude that thronged the IEBC stands where he created awareness on the Commission’s mandate, processes and activities. “This is one of the easiest ways to reach out to the public and allow them to learn more about electoral and boundaries delimitation processes,” he said.

By participating in the shows, the Commission: promoted its brand; conducted voter education; created awareness on the role of the Commission in electoral boundaries delimitation and boundaries delimitation requirements; provided information and responded to queries on the 2022 General Election; demonstrated voter registration process; demonstrated use of Candidate Registration Management System; showcased election technology including distinguishing the Biometric Voter Registration, Kenya Integrated Election Management System kit and Electronic Voter Identification Devices; demonstrated actual polling and polling day procedures; sensitized on result management process including results transmission process and the famous “server”; promoted the IEBC social media platforms and website; sought feedback on the electoral and boundaries delimitation processes; engaged stakeholders; answered questions from visitors about the electoral processes and instilled democratic tenets among school going children.
